Record Breaking Team at Marathon des Sables
This year's WWTW MDS team came home with two historic, record breaking finishes
In April 2017, Walking With The Wounded took a record breaking team to run the notorious Marathon des Sables (‘MDS’) – 6 marathons in 6 days in the searing Saharan sun, self supported and carrying all necessary food and equipment for the duration of the challenge.
The two historical finishers were double leg amputee Duncan Slater – the first ever to undertake the challenge and Capt. Tom Evans a previously unheard of athlete who has exploded onto the ultra running scene by taking the first podium finish of any non Moroccan in the 32 year history of the race, finishing 3rd out of over 1200 runners.
